"floater."

My name is Samuel Broach, and I'm the person behind the infamous "floater." Brand, persona, mindset, whatever you want to call it; it's where real moments and art are transformed into something that lasts a lifetime. At the end of it all, I'm a visual storyteller. It's not perfect, but it's authentic and real.

Whether it’s a short film, a photo series, or a quick edit that just feels right, I care about capturing what’s honest. I handle every part of the process, from planning and shooting to editing and design, because I like seeing things through. "floater" is where all of that comes together. In the end, I just want spread positivity and brighten someone's day :)

My primary strength is post-production, specifically editing. I have experience with sound design, 3D tracking, rotoscoping, motion graphics, and more. I love being a on set and have worn all the hats, from crafty to directing. That's the goal: direct my own movies.

"floater." by my father's definition at least, is what is described as a "turd that floats in toilet water." He also taught me about other types of turds: logs, deer, ghosts, and sinkers. 5-year old Sam thought this was funniest thing at the time. Somehow, it stuck with me: through online usernames, XBOX gamer-tags, and now my creative alias 20+ years later.

It may sound silly, but I've realized I want my art to "float" above the rest and be the best it can be in this toilet bowl we call life. Sure, some may call my work sh*tty. I don't care. However, I just pray I leave a skid mark on the toilet bowl when we all get flushed down in the end. I'm not striving to be understood, but I do want to be real, understanding, and to leave a lasting impression on people's lives.

In 10th grade, I was supposed to be in a yearbook class, but was accidentally assigned to a film production class. Shout-out to that admin who made that error because I've been in love with film-making ever since. I continued to go to conferences throughout high school and film festivals in college while winning awards. I graduated from Boston University with a B.S. in Communications and my major being Film & Television Production. Since the inception of "floater.," I've also shot photos for weddings, graduations, fundraisers, and other events. I've also been a part of music videos and award winning short films. There's still so much I want to accomplish and learn.
